Top 5 Favorite Michael Jackson songs

Tagged Under : , ,

In remembrance of Michael Jackson who passed yesterday, I thought I’d do a Top 5 with my favorite MJ songs of all time. I grew up singing and dancing to Michael Jackson, I have a lot of respect for his music ability and a lot of sadness for how he lived his life.

1. Thriller

Where else is there to start. The best music video of all time, an incredible song and it gave me nightmares when I was a kid, but I loved it.

2. Smooth Criminal

Another epic video, will anyone ever be able to do music videos like this guy again? I doubt it. Great song as well, I can always jam to this song.

3. Billie Jean

Man I can remember dancing to this song in my room. This video always tripped me out, I still don’t think I really get it. But talk about epic, sidewalk lighting up, I mean…brilliant. I can’t say enough about his sense of melody, it’s incredible.

4. Dirty Diana

I’ve never been in a concert atmosphere like this and I really wonder if I’ll ever have the opportunity in my life to experience it. And no I’m not going into the Jonas brothers teenage mosh pit.

5. Beat It

This was back in the day when gangs just had break dancing battles to settle turf wars. Simpler times.

Farewell Michael, you inspired me as a kid and I’m not sure this world will ever see or hear anyone quite like you again.

Folks what are your Top 5 MJ tunes?

10 Commandments of Blogging: How many do you break?

Tagged Under : , , ,

10 commandmentsGodblog recently met and published a set of commandments on blogging based loosely on the 10 commandements to help reign in the craziness. Good luck on that. Let’s see how many of these I’ve broken…

  1. You shall not put your blog before your integrity. (think I’m good here)
  2. You shall not make an idol of your blog. (feeling a little convicted…next one dangit)
  3. You shall not misuse your screen name by using your anonymity to sin. (think I’m clear here)
  4. Remember the sabbath day by taking one day off a week from your blog. (I do take a day off but not because of the sabbath, I get a half point here)
  5. Honor your fellow-bloggers above yourselves and do not give undue significance to their mistakes. (I enjoy promoting other people’s stuff and try to not to nitpick mistakes unless I have serious theological problems and their influence is high enough to warrant a response)
  6. You shall not murder someone else’s honor, reputation or feelings. (murder? no way.)
  7. You shall not use the web to commit or permit adultery in your mind. (need the humility to say although I’m ok today, this needs constant attention, prayer and accountability)
  8. You shall not steal another person’s content. (if I ever steal I give credit to the person of whom I’m stealing…that’s the least I can do right?)
  9. Carman tattooYou shall not give false testimony against your fellow-blogger. (I’d never say something like Scot worships Osteen, or Scot L. once did a Michael Jackson song in worship, or Billy has a tattoo of Carman on his calf….never would I say this)
  10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s blog ranking. Be content with your own content. (well when you say covet do you mean like…ummm….ok fine. Yes I do, I really do. I won’t say who but it rhymes with Tagamuffin)

Well there’s my confession. How many do you guys break?
