John Mark McMillan performs “How He Loves Us” at the Call

John Mark McMillan is one of my favorite new song writers. First off I knew I’d love him when he listed Whiskeytown as one of his favorite bands. He obviously has some taste. But his songwriting is refreshing, unique, powerful, lyrically challenging and poetic. I think John is able to walk that line of creatively fresh and cutting edge while still having a root in simplicity that allows listeners and worshipers to enter in. I don’t know that is his intention, but it’s a welcome side effect if not.

I first saw him on the Call and the below video is one of the most moving things I’ve ever witnessed.
