Sunday morning vocal warmups without an iPod
Tagged Under : Chris Brown, church, Estelle, music, Outkast
My drive to church starts at 6:30am and takes me 30 minutes. Usually I have my worship set on my iPhone and warm-up my voice a bit by singing through the set. Look I’m no Celine Dion, I don’t have a very intricate vocal warm-up procedure like this or this, I just try to get the morning cob webs off the voice so I don’t sound like Herman Munster.
Recently though this has been made impossible since one of my dear children jammed some object into the headphone jack of my iPhone, making any audio out impossible. My ghetto work truck only has AM/FM (save it), so my options are quite limited. Here’s what I warmed up to this past Sunday:
- Roses by Outkast – “I know you like to thank you s*$& don’t stank but lean a lil bit closer see the roses still smell like poo poo poo“
- With You by Chris Brown – “I need you boo, I gotta see you boo, there’s hearts all over the world tonight“
- American Boy by Estelle – “Let’s go on the subway, take me to your hood, I neva been to Brooklyn and I’d like to see what’s good“
These aren’t the most ideal songs to warm up to, although Chris Brown has been working ok and I jam to Outkast. I tried singing along to the local Christian radio station but I found myself wanting to veer into oncoming traffic.
So how do you guys warm up?
