Because semi-instant messaging / micro-blogging is hip and so am I. Together we’re a force to be reckoned with.
- 368 other people follow me and they can’t all be wrong can they?
- You get to interact on a more personal level, like see pictures of my pile of snot rags.
- Twitter is great for communicating with like minded folks and if there’s any mind to be like minded with…it’s mine.
- I’ll be twittering my travels to LA today and you can help me with my interviews.
There you have it, 5 compelling reasons to follow me on Twitter.
This week we launched the Our Rising Sound podcast which will contain all of our video/audio content, this so far includes interviews and worship loops. You can click the link on the right sidebar to subscribe to it in whatever podcast client you use. If you are using iTunes you can subscribe with iTunes. So subscribe if you’d like and spread the word.
Godblog recently met and published a set of commandments on blogging based loosely on the 10 commandements to help reign in the craziness. Good luck on that. Let’s see how many of these I’ve broken…
- You shall not put your blog before your integrity. (think I’m good here)
- You shall not make an idol of your blog. (feeling a little convicted…next one dangit)
- You shall not misuse your screen name by using your anonymity to sin. (think I’m clear here)
- Remember the sabbath day by taking one day off a week from your blog. (I do take a day off but not because of the sabbath, I get a half point here)
- Honor your fellow-bloggers above yourselves and do not give undue significance to their mistakes. (I enjoy promoting other people’s stuff and try to not to nitpick mistakes unless I have serious theological problems and their influence is high enough to warrant a response)
- You shall not murder someone else’s honor, reputation or feelings. (murder? no way.)
- You shall not use the web to commit or permit adultery in your mind. (need the humility to say although I’m ok today, this needs constant attention, prayer and accountability)
- You shall not steal another person’s content. (if I ever steal I give credit to the person of whom I’m stealing…that’s the least I can do right?)
You shall not give false testimony against your fellow-blogger. (I’d never say something like Scot worships Osteen, or Scot L. once did a Michael Jackson song in worship, or Billy has a tattoo of Carman on his calf….never would I say this)
- You shall not covet your neighbor’s blog ranking. Be content with your own content. (well when you say covet do you mean like…ummm….ok fine. Yes I do, I really do. I won’t say who but it rhymes with Tagamuffin)
Well there’s my confession. How many do you guys break?
One thing that is critical for any successful ministry or blog is timing. Bad timing is absolute death to a blog, you have to be able to capitalize on what’s happening that day. So that’s why after these last couple weeks of news where it appears America’s economy is about to bring upon armageddon, families are filing bankruptcy and foreclosing on their homes, I’ve finally got the Our Rising Sound Store up and running!
With all that extra money you all have you can buy all sorts of men and women shirts, sweaters, stickers, hats, etc… What better way to show your patriotism and rebuild our economy than by sowing into the Our Rising Sound blog? OK maybe that’s not a good way, but it is a good way to look sexy and help me pay some bills. Look over on the right sidebar for the picture and link as shown below.

Technorati is a blog search engine that indexes millions of blogs. It then “ranks” your blog based off the number of times other sites link to it. This helps determine what they call your blog’s “relevance”. The higher Technorati rank the more visibility you get in the searches. There are a few things you can do to help this blog increase its ranking.
- Link to posts you find interesting on your own sites/blogs. This would include Facebook, Myspace and any personal blogs. In our interview with John Mark McMillan we are doing a giveaway based off of people linking to the post. So spread the love.
- Add Our Rising Sound to your blogroll. In addition to linking single posts you can also add this site to your blogroll or links in your blog so a permanent link is visible.

- Add Our Rising Sound to your Technorati Favorites. You can do this by clicking the “Add to Technorati Favorites” link on the right sidebar under “Web Life”.
- Comment please. This doesn’t have any direct impact on Technorati ranking but it does show engagement with your readers. So if you find the post interesting, comment and let us know, if you hate it, comment and let us know that too. We have a lot of silent readers here but I want some interaction. I want to know what you’re thinking, I’m not afraid to argue either so bring it.
