Great post! Thanks for reminding us how critical soaking in God's truth is before we pour out our own thoughts, opinions, and experiences. I'm amazed at how this cycle (rev/resp.) plays out in Scripture SO often! (Isaiah, Abraham, Mary's Magnificat, Zacharius' Benedictus, Romans 12:1, etc.)

"It takes a humble songwriter, a songwriter obsessed with God’s glory and filled with his grace, to be able to lay down a lesser truth for the greater truth."
I think if you do not begin with the truth that God is revealing and wants revealed in the song then you will just have real confusion.
Great post and thanks for the insight.

Such a great post. It challenges my first response.... am I mixing in my emotionalism or just speaking truth. Is it ALL Him? Or like you said are my words a "convoluted mishmash of my life’s greatest hits, regrets, worries alongside a few lines of God’s prevailing goodness"
Great post looking forward to the series
