I walked into the lobby a little after service was ending to find a young woman crying (I'm 99% sure it's the same girl you are talking about!). I ended up talking to her for about an hour and it was heartbreaking to hear her story. She has been abandonded by her husband who is now living with his girlfriend and she is left to take care of her young son alone. She has no family here and is need of some practical help like finding a job, childcare, rides, etc. So, we are on it! The ladies in my group and I told her we are all about praying for her, leading her to Jesus and helping her in practial ways along the way. I put her in contact with an amazing lady at our church who is going to help her find a job, one of the ladies in our group is offering to help with childcare and we are also trying to find her a cell phone and transportation.
So, I'm really hoping it's the same girl you & Mel met and even if it wasn't, I'm confidenet that the Lord will lead someone to reach out to her. It was humbling to read your post and know that we don't have perfect systems in place to reach every person that walks through our doors, and never will BUT GOD has planned, purposed & pursued each person in His family and His will is always accomplished. It's amazing that He continues to use us to despite our many weaknesses.
It's truly a blessing to see God at work in the lives of His people, what an honor to serve His people, one I hope we never take lightly.

kyle thanks for the eye opener. I had a similar experience sunday. Praying for a young child and speaking truth over him. You are not a accident. You are chosen, you are a gift to your mom and dad, and then the mom says "never forget that son." For some reason that brought a tear to my eye. Just the mother's simple agreement and the son was old enough to acknowledge. It was just a moment for me.
