Him that pisseth on thy guitar is blessed!

One of my favorite local pastors is Pastor Steven L. Anderson of Faithful Word Baptist Church. It was love at first sight when I read their inviting tagline, “Don’t expect anything contemporary or liberal.” I mean that’s powerful, warm and loving all at the same time! Except I have noticed they do use some contemporary things like blogs, You Tube, websites, cameras, microphones etc… Pastor Anderson of course is best known for his “pisseth against the wall” sermon, but is quickly gaining notoriety for his guitar instructional videos. Pastor Anderson does make certain to explain that they do not play any guitar in their services, but if you find yourself in a more appropriate guitar playing situation like out in the woods where there is no organ you might find playing hymns on acoustic handy(I’m not making this up, just watch).

Worship leaders make sure and use this video as a mentoring tool for those up and coming worship leaders. You can thank me and Pastor Anderson later.

Video gold. I think his greatest talent is perfectly matching his singing voice with his speaking voice.

Note to self: Invite Pastor Steven L. Anderson on my next camping trip.

How great would a camp out with Steven Anderson be? Biblical preaching? Check! Hymns on guitar? Check! Judgment and Condemnation on everyone from sinners to Christians? Check! Smores? Check!

that’s a dream weekend camping trip!

This is fake, right? This guy can’t be serious! To me the video looks fake, too.

Jamey, I can assure you that sadly, this is not fake. Pastor Anderson is the real deal.

I know I’m very, very late to the discussion but I see this video a little differently.

Pastor Anderson has some pretty off-the-wall (or against-the-wall) videos out there. This isn’t one of them. This one legitimately appears to be a guy trying to show others how to lead the songs that they sing in their church on a more portable instrument.

Is it hip? No. Is he going to be invited to be a guest presenter on worshiptogether.com? No, but that’s not what he’s going for.

It’s a guy with an average singing voice and below-average guitar skills demonstrating to other novices how to play songs to Jesus. I can’t bash that.
