I remember one of the first Sundays I used in-ears. I was leading "mighty to save" from a keyboard, and part way through the first verse I guess both my mic and keyboard stopped coming out of the speakers. So there I am, rockin' away in my own world (literally one of the only times I didn't have my eyes open… always lead with your eyes open), thinking that everything is going great, until I open my eyes and see strange blank stares.

Things got worked out and we were back on. I think I told a stupid joke to ease the pain (I'm good at self-deprecating humour), and went on our way to finish the service.

Oh yeah, there we go, that's the memory I had blocked out as an uncomfortable worship moment (as referenced in the above post). I have to say that was so awkward and I had no idea what to do since I was the only one on the worship team that knew the piano wasn't in the mains (as I keep one of my in ears out). I was torn and thought I should walk over and tap you on the shoulder but then part of me thought maybe you knew what was happening and were just soldiering on despite the lack of sound coming from your instrument. It would have been a nice acapella sound had the drums and bass not come in. I think that gave it away, that and the "air piano" you were rocking out. Eesh, I'm glad we can all laugh about it now. I am actually laughing about it right now, pretty hard, at work, which is always fun. Kyle, you rock!

Dang, I hate when things like that happen......it makes me crazy to try and worship after that or in the midst of that. My sympathies!
