Delirious calling it quits after current tours

Martin Smith of Delirious sings on stageDelirious announced on their website that they will cease playing as a band at the end of their current tours which take them through 2009. They will not record any more albums as well. This is truly a sad day for Delirious fans as they have written songs that absolutely changed the worship landscape forever.

They had a huge impact on me as a young Christian. The first time I heard Did You Feel the Mountains Tremble my entire view of worship music changed. It implanted a word so deep in me and set my life on a different course. I’m so grateful for their service, their hearts, their passion and desire to see God glorified above all else. I wish them well in the next chapter of their lives.

Let’s hear your Delirious stories and how they impacted your life.

I have been a huge Delirious fan for years. This past November I went to the Joyce Meyer Women’s Conference in St. Louis. It was unbelievable. One of the biggest reasons was that Delirious led worship throughout the whole thing. This was a dream come true for me. The moment that impacted me the most, by far, was the opening to the conference. Here’s what happened:
The lights all went out. Then a spot light shines into the crowd and Martin Smith is standing there and starts singing Our God Reigns. Just him. Then the spotlight goes over to the other side of the room and there is Stu G and he starts playing. Then the spotlight goes to the front of the stage and there is a kid playing one drum. Then all the lights go out and the the stage lights up and the whole stage is full….there is a whole gospel choir and drum line and then these amazing guys that sounded like the guys from Stomp. It sounded like a stamped of elephants. It was so beautiful. It was like God was breathing into that place right then with a roar. It was absolutely amazing!
I will miss their music, concerts and the example that they are, but I appreciate so much who they are and that they need to be with their families. It’s been a long amazing ride for them and for us and they will be missed tremendously!
