Christy, you are right on woman! It's funny, I used to write letters and love songs to Mark all the time and have just recenlty been trying to write a new one but I think I have been trying too hard. I need to just let it out, just like I do when I'm writing a letter or telling him how I feel. And like you so astutely pointed out, this applies to our worship to God too. If we let the words that are in our hearts and spirit towards God just flow out onto the page it will be authentic, personal and hopefully creative. I think the writing style that I found that works best for me is just putting a bunch of words and verses down and then sift through those to try and find the more interesting of the bunch and form a cohesive thought and theme for the song. but I'm going to try all sorts of approaches until I feel like things are flowing again! thanks for the great post. I'm inspired!
